You will compete for the coveted grand prize while doing a virtual scavenger hunt\, thanks to our friends at GooseChase. Tasks include a balloon hop\, locked elbows\, newspaper press\, and more. All for the animals! \nIt is $35 to participate and you receive a SPECIAL EDITION color-coordinating t-shirt that associates with the organization (“team”) of your choice\, a donation to your chosen charity\, and a SAFE way to have a lot of FUN while still abiding by local\, state\, and federal social distancing guidelines. \nOur goal is to have over 500 participants and raise at least $30\,000 through registrations and sponsorships. Our very own Apollo is an honoree! You can read his story below. \n  \nGOH Nominee 2019: Golden Angel Fund #8 Apollo\nApollo’s condition brings tears to your eyes.  He was barely recognizable as a German Shepherd.  County’s notes described him as “very old\, very skinny\, hair missing\, strong odor\, edema\, potential endocrine disorder….. can’t tolerate anesthesia\, humanely euthanize”. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nPleas went out to save him.  With the support PACC 911’s Golden Angel Fund\, SPRAZ took the failing senior. Volunteers rallied providing him with all his needs.  He was bathed\, ridding him of the terrible stench\, and cleaning all his head to toe wounds.  He was given a warm\, soft bed and blankets providing relief to his bones\, and a jacket for warmth having lost most of his hair.  Emaciated and starving he cried in pain\, struggling to stand or walk.  With all the cruelty he’d suffered all were amazed at his sweet\, gentle demeanor. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nApollo’s dermatologist initially diagnosed him with Atopic Dermatitis\, Pyoderma\, Otitis Externa\, and possibly Pemphigus Foliaceus.   Apollo’s condition suddenly worsened with uncontrolled pain.  He was rushed to the Emergency Hospital. He was stabilized and admitted with a fever of 105 and because of his low weight his life was at risk. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nWith medication\, supportive care and nightly visits by a volunteer to help feed him he was discharged three days later.  His skin biopsy revealed Pemphigus Foliaceus (PM) which causes raw\, painful skin pustules and crusting.  It is considered an autoimmune disease without cure\, but with treatment may go into remission. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nAt hospital admission he weighed 77 pounds.  Thirty days later he weighed 90 pounds!  Volunteers spent countless hours caring for the dog no one wanted.  He is no longer neglected\, but treated with loving care to make him whole again. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nOn July 13th\, SPR followed through on their promise – a loving forever home was found for our beloved Apollo.  He will be forever loved by his SPRAZ family! \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
