“Hi my name is Sweet Pea! I am 10 years old and I am just about the sweetest dog you will ever meet. When I first went to live with my foster mom and dad I was very sick. I had about 10 cancerous tumors all over my body, with the largest one being about the size of a cantaloupe. The vet said that I most likely only had weeks to a couple months to live so my foster mom and dad took me in to give me a comfortable home for my last days. What they didn’t know is that I am a fighter. After a few weeks in foster care I improved enough to undergo an emergency surgery that would remove all my tumors. Just a few days after surgery I was up and running (literally) and eating like a horse. Now, five months and 25 pounds later, I am living the high life. I get to go on adventures with my mom and dad all the time. I have a big heart and don’t let my age stop me from doing anything. I have been camping, boating, hiking, played on the beach, played in the snow, and even sit in my mom’s lap while she kayaks. I used to barely make it around the block, but now I can do hikes that are about 6 miles long. We don’t know if my cancer is gone, but what I know for sure is that I have a lot of life to live and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.”
